Anna Kendrick Donated Her Salary From Hit Netflix Movie to Charity
Anna Kendrick, the director and star of “Woman of The Hour” has revealed why she made “no money” from the newest Netflix hit. And it’s all thanks to her directorial debut that’s got everyone talking.
The premise of “Woman of the Hour” is as captivating as it is disturbing. In a twist of fate that defies belief, Alcala, a convicted rapist and murderer, appeared as a contestant on “The Dating Game” in the midst of his killing spree.

She said “Once I realized, ‘Oh there’s going to be money exchanging hands,’ I asked myself the question, ‘Do you feel gross about this?” Kendrick explained to the hosts. “And I did. So I’m not making money off the movie. The money has gone to RAINN and the National Center for Victims of Crime.”
“I think that it’s still a complicated area, but that felt like certainly… the least that I should do.”

Kendrick was originally just set to star in the film, contracts signed, lines memorized. But then, funding stopped. When the dust settled and the money finally came through, the film found itself without a director.
Now, most actors would’ve just shrugged and said, “Not my problem.” But not our girl Anna. She decided to direct the film herself without any prior directing experience. The move was a great one as the movie currently sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and top 3 on the Netflix charts. “Woman of the Hour” is streaming on Netflix.
