“Single White Female” Remake in Development with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in Talks to Star

“Single White Female” remake is in the works at Sony and 3000 Pictures, with Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Taylor Russell (Bones and All) in talks to star. The project is in the early stages of development, and while no director has been confirmed yet, the film is generating significant buzz.
“Single White Female” From 1992
The original 1992 thriller, directed by Barbet Schroeder, starred Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda. It followed Fonda’s character, Allie, a software designer in New York who advertises for a roommate after discovering her fiancé’s infidelity. She soon realizes that something is very off with the new tenant (played by Leigh), leading to a chilling and suspenseful unraveling of secrets. The film was a commercial success, grossing $48 million domestically.

There have been a few attempts to revisit the story, including a 2005 direct-to-video sequel and a 2016 NBC drama series that never came to fruition.
Jenna Ortega, best known for her role as Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday, has become a rising star in recent years. She also starred in the hit horror films Scream (2022) and X (2022) and will appear in the highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel. Ortega’s versatility across genres has made her one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young talents.

Taylor Russell, who gained significant attention for her powerful performance in Luca Guadagnino’s Bones and All, also starred in “Waves” (2019) and “Escape Room” (2019). She is set to lead the upcoming Thomas Crown Affair reboot, directed by Michael B. Jordan, showcasing her growing range and appeal in major film projects.
