STARZ is stepping into the ring with “Fightland“, a gritty new drama set in the ruthless world of British boxing. The network announced today that it has ordered eight episodes of the high-octane series, which will begin production in London this fall. The series marks the first international production from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television and continues STARZ’s push toward developing original IP for underrepresented audiences.

“Fightland” Premise

“Fightland” centers on a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to exact revenge on the crime family he believes betrayed him. With raw ambition, explosive betrayals, and edge-of-your-seat action both inside and outside the ring, the series aims to deliver the kind of gritty, character-driven storytelling STARZ is known for.

“Fightland marks my first internationally produced show through my G-Unit Film & Television,” said executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. “I am excited to bring that global energy to the screen. I anticipate this to be more successful than anything I’ve done before—boxing’s raw stakes are gonna take it to another level.”

STARZ President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby added, “Set against the backdrop of the British boxing underground, this series promises to be the perfect combination of character and adrenaline. Fightland is the kind of unapologetically visceral, premium storytelling that STARZ is known for.”

The creative team includes executive producers Francis Hopkinson (“Wallander”, “Bancroft”) and Kate Leadbetter (“Woman in White”, “Catherine the Great”) of Expanded Media, as well as “Power” and “BMF” alumni Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr., who will serve as showrunners, executive producers, and writers. Writers and executive producers Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith also join the team, bringing further depth and authenticity to the British-set crime drama.
