Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, is currently in early-stage discussions to potentially develop a second season of the critically acclaimed series “Adolescence“, following its massive success on Netflix. This news was first reported by Deadline, who spoke to Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner in their first interview since the show’s dramatic rise in popularity last month.

Gardner and Kleiner revealed to Deadline that they are in talks with “Adolescence” director Philip Barantini about what the “next iteration” of the show could look like. While they are exploring ways to expand the story without becoming repetitive, they were careful not to reveal too much about their plans. “We’re thinking about how we can widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive,” Gardner said. Kleiner also expressed hope that Graham and Jack Thorne, the British writer behind the series, could reunite to continue the project.
The news is likely to excite both Plan B and Netflix, which has seen “Adolescence” become a huge hit. The series, which follows the story of a 13-year-old boy (played by breakout Owen Cooper) accused of murdering a classmate after becoming involved in the online manosphere, has garnered 114.5 million views since its March 13 debut, securing a spot in fourth place on Netflix’s Most Popular English-Language TV list.

Afterward, they quickly recognized the potential to use this unique format for a TV series. Pitt, who had previously worked with Graham on Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” (2000), was fully supportive of the idea. “Brad is a massive fan of Stephen’s,” Kleiner said.
In the interview, the team also shared how the series was initially pitched to Amazon Prime Video before being picked up by Netflix, with Kleiner emphasizing their appreciation for Amazon’s role in helping the project get off the ground. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos personally took an interest in “Adolescence”, telling the team that he was “personally moved by the show,” which led to the series’ eventual success.
