Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, are pulling back the curtain on their lives in TLC’s latest reality show, The Baldwins, premiering Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET. The series offers a rare glimpse into their chaotic yet loving household, where they juggle raising seven kids while navigating life under the relentless public spotlight.

But the first episode isn’t just about family antics—it tackles the darkest chapter in Alec Baldwin’s life: the tragic 2021 shooting on the set of Rust that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec Baldwin’s Emotional Confession

In the premiere episode, Alec Baldwin doesn’t hold back as he opens up about his struggles with PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and the mental toll the past four years have taken on him. “Sometimes I’d lay in bed and think, ‘I can’t get up. I just can’t do it today,’” he admits in a confessional moment.

Hilaria Baldwin shares that her husband has battled severe PTSD, at times questioning why he survived while Hutchins did not. “Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline,” she reveals.

Despite the emotional weight, Alec credits their seven children for helping him push forward. “Sometimes I’d say, ‘Why did I have seven kids?’ And I realize it’s to help carry me and you through this situation,” he tells Hilaria.

Revisiting the Rust Tragedy

The episode, filmed just days before Baldwin’s July 2024 trial, revisits the October 21, 2021, incident in which a prop gun discharged on set, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. After facing multiple legal battles, including an involuntary manslaughter charge that was dismissed in 2024, Baldwin remains haunted by the tragedy.

Hilaria also opens up about how the tragedy has permanently altered their family. “The hardest thing about this is that a woman lost her life, and a son lost his mom. Our lives are very, very different now, and our children have been forced to recognize that,” she says.

If you’re curious to see how the Baldwins navigate life post-Rust, you can catch the series premiere live on TLC at 10 p.m. ET or stream it for free with trials from Philo, Sling TV, or DirecTV Stream.
