“I would be remiss if I didn’t say Mr. Scorsese,” Wonders said. “Mr. Martin Scorsese.” Fallon, clearly amused, responded, “He’s hilarious!” to which Wonders nodded in agreement.

Wonders then shared the amusing story of how she ended up spending time with Scorsese on set, despite not having any scenes that day. “I wasn’t even working that day,” she explained with a laugh. “I made it my mission — I was, like, pretending I had stuff to do, carrying around sides, like, ‘Oh, hair and makeup test. Oh, I’m just here, I’m actually one of the actors. I’m not in the scene, but, you know, I’m around, I have a very involved process.’”

Both Wonders and Fallon joked about Scorsese’s awareness of his fame, with Fallon adding, “It must happen to him all day… He’s like, ‘Yeah, of course you want to meet me.’ I mean, it’s Martin Scorsese.”

Wonders then reflected fondly on her first interaction with the iconic director: “He goes for the handshake first!” she recalled. “That’s what I like about him. Because he has the glint in his eye. He knows everyone’s got one eye on him. So he went in for the handshake first. That’s the real GOAT.”

The actress also praised Scorsese’s down-to-earth demeanor, calling him a “classy” and “humble guy” who is “willing to just mess around.” Wonders shared a fun anecdote of Scorsese playfully critiquing fellow co-creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. “He was also critiquing Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg] on their directing style,” she said. “He’s like, ‘You use way too many expletives on this show.’ And Seth’s like, ‘We learned it from you!’”

Rogen, who played a pivotal role as co-creator, director, and star of “The Studio”, portrays Matt Remick, the new head of a film company navigating the chaotic world of Hollywood talent and corporate figures.

Seth Rogen on Working With Martin Scorsese

Rogen had previously spoken about his initial nervousness in directing Scorsese during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “We wrote a part that was very specific for Martin. It was Martin Scorsese, so he could only play Martin Scorsese,” Rogen explained. “We sent it to his agent, and we were so excited when we heard that he liked it, and he wanted to do it. And then I was confronted with the very real reality that I had to now direct Martin Scorsese in something.”

Rogen went on to admit that the pressure of directing a living filmmaking legend was overwhelming. “As a director, it’s your worst nightmare in the entire world. Having to direct one of the greatest living filmmakers in something,” he said. Even Rogen’s mother contributed to his anxiety, calling him the day filming began to say, “You must be terrified. This is the scariest thing you could possibly have to do.”

Rogen described the experience as nerve-wracking, revealing that he over-prepared for the shoot. “We shoot in a very specific way where we use one camera, and it’s all long continuous takes,” he explained. “There’s no cutting. It’s long continuous shots and you don’t usually shoot comedy like that. And so I was very nervous Martin Scorsese would not like it.”

To ensure he was ready for any potential mishap, Rogen even took extreme measures, including hiring a backup camera crew. “I stashed them in a hotel room somewhere on the off chance Scorsese was like, ‘Where’s the second camera?” he confessed. “I wanted to be like, ‘They’re right here. I got them right here.” “The Studio” is streaming on Apple TV+.
