The buzz for “Nobody 2” is heating up, with Bob Odenkirk back as Hutch Mansell — and Conan O’Brien still hoping for a cameo. The two longtime friends go way back, first crossing paths in the late ’80s and building a comedic partnership through SNL sketches and countless talk-show appearances.
O’Brien has been vocal about wanting in on the action. “When the first Nobody came out, I had you on, I loved it, we had a great interview, and I said at the end, ‘If you ever make another one, you’ve got to put me in it.’ You went, ‘Yeah! Yeah!’” he recalled on Monday’s episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. Then came the lament: “I’m not in it! I just want to be beaten. I want somebody to beat the s–t out of me.”

His 2021 pitch was a bit more elaborate. O’Brien jokingly offered to play a “sexual dynamo” in the still-unconfirmed sequel, nudging Odenkirk to find a role “for an old friend.” The Emmy nominee played along.
“I’m hoping there are sequels. I’m also hoping if there is a sequel, you’ll find a role for an old friend,” O’Brien said at the time. “With maybe a little makeup I could not look like myself and I could play a guy who’s a sexual dynamo.”
“OK — will you start training for that?” Odenkirk asked, keeping the joke alive.
“Yes I will. Yes I will,” O’Brien responded. “I’m taking the medication now.”
Will “Nobody 2” Lead To A Third Installment?
Though that cameo didn’t come to pass, the pair are already eyeing the possibility of a “Nobody 3”. “When Nobody 3 comes out, I just want to be — put me in clown makeup, it won’t be me, and I’ll be a small … But I just want someone to beat me to death,” O’Brien said, prompting Odenkirk to assure, “We’ll make it happen.”

Fans of the franchise can only hope O’Brien’s whimsical plans come to life. Meanwhile, “Nobody 2” promises more darkly funny, high-octane action, with Odenkirk’s return anchoring the adrenaline-fueled chaos. Between their friendship and this action-comedy edge, it’s a duo worth watching — on screen or off. “Nobody 2” is in theaters this weekend.
