Wicked fans, get ready! Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are back as Elphaba and Glinda in Wicked: For Good, the highly anticipated second chapter of the Broadway classic’s big-screen adaptation. On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Universal dropped a brand new trailer, packed with strong vocals, jaw-dropping visuals, and more than a little drama in the land of Oz.

The three-minute teaser wastes no time diving into the complicated friendship at the heart of the story. Erivo’s Elphaba swoops in to remind Grande’s Glinda that she “has no real power,” setting the stage for what looks like a fierce battle. One of the most striking moments shows Glinda slamming her wand against Elphaba’s broom in a heated showdown on the yellow brick road. But it’s not all intense drama, there are soft moments, too. One scene shows a tearful Glinda whispering, “Think of what we could do together,” to her once-close friend.

It wouldn’t be Wicked without the music. Fan favorite songs are back, including Elphaba’s solo “No Good Deed” and the iconic duet “For Good.” There’s more good news for fans, according to Playbill, two brand-new songs by composer Stephen Schwartz will also be featured. Schwartz explained that the additions were made because “the storytelling required it.” So expect the new tracks to feel organic just like the classics.

Romance isn’t left out either. Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero takes center stage in several scenes, including what appears to be a passionate embrace with Elphaba as they perform the passionate duet “As Long As You’re Mine.” The trailer also teases a picture-perfect wedding between Fiyero and Glinda, though it doesn’t stay perfect for long. Chaos erupts as a stampede of animals crashes the ceremony, while Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible declares, “This is the work of the Wicked Witch!”

Fans of the original Wizard of Oz can also expect to see Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man make their appearance in the sequel. Their arrival raises the stakes for everyone in Oz.

The official synopsis promises even more twists. Elphaba, now living in exile, is determined to reveal the truth about the Wizard, while Glinda enjoys fame and influence in her Emerald City palace. Their divided paths spark a struggle that pulls in everyone around them, and Dorothy suddenly arrives, all of Oz is thrown into upheaval.

In the end, an angry mob rises against Elphaba, forcing the two witches to face their destinies. With their friendship on the line, Glinda and Elphaba will have to truly see each other with honesty and empathy, if they want to change their own fates, and the future of Oz.

Chu, Wicked: For Good brings together a powerhouse cast with plenty of buzz behind it. The first installment set the bar sky-high, raking in $756 million worldwide and claiming the title of the top-grossing Broadway adaptation ever, according to Variety.

The sequel arrives in theaters Nov. 21, 2025, promising to bring audiences back into the magical world of Oz.
