“Diarra From Detroit” Renewed For Season 2 At BET+: Here Is What We Know

BET+ has officially greenlit a second season of its hit dramedy “Diarra From Detroit“, following its standout debut earlier this year. The show, created by and starring Diarra Kilpatrick, will return with its lead cast, including Bryan Terrell Clark, DomiNque Perry, and Jon Chaffin.
“Diarra From Detroit” Rating Success
The decision to renew comes after the series topped cable ratings during its early 2025 linear premiere on BET. It was recognized as the top new cable show of the year among Black audiences, leading in key demographics like Black adults aged 18-49, 25-54. The show now ranks as the second-most-watched scripted program among Black audiences in those age groups, just behind Tyler Perry’s “Sistas“.
“Following a breakout first season that quickly became a favorite among both fans and critics, BET Studios is excited to bring ‘Diarra From Detroit’ back to BET+ for Season 2,” said Aisha Summers Burke, executive vice president and general manager of BET Studios. “Diarra’s voice is bold, original, and unapologetically real—exactly the kind of storytelling that resonates deeply with our audience. This next chapter raises the stakes while keeping the same sharp wit and heart that made the series a standout.”

In a statement, Kilpatrick expressed her enthusiasm about continuing the journey: “We’re excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity to take viewers on another very wild, very Detroit adventure.”

“Diarra From Detroit” Premise
“Diarra From Detroit” follows the story of Diarra, a schoolteacher going through a divorce, who becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind her mysterious Tinder date’s disappearance. Her relentless investigation opens the door to a decades-old mystery tied to Detroit’s criminal past, pulling in her friends, co-workers, and lovers to help her navigate a dangerous and unpredictable world.
The series is a collaboration between BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, with Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and Miles Orion Feldsott serving as executive producers.

“It has been incredible watching fans and critics embrace this show in the way that they have and we’re so excited to be back for more,” said Barris. “Last season proved just how wildly talented Diarra Kilpatrick is and I, for one, can’t wait for everyone to see what her and the team have in store this time around.”
BET+ has not yet announced production or premiere dates for Season 2, but the return of this dynamic, genre-blending series is already generating buzz. “Diarra From Detroit” streams on BET+.
