The 2025 Emmy nominations are here—and they’re already sparking major conversation. While some frontrunners like “The White Lotus” and “Severance” led the pack as expected, there were plenty of jaw-dropping surprises and snubs fans didn’t see coming.
The Emmy Favorites Show Up
“The White Lotus” and “Severance” continued their awards-season reign with a slew of nods, praised for their smart writing and gripping performances. Newcomers like “The Studio”, “The Pitt”, and “Nobody Wants This” proved they could hold their own against the big names, earning critical praise and key nominations.

Surprises and Snubs
Meghann Fahy scored her first lead actress nod for “Sirens”, while Uzo Aduba was recognized for “The Residence”—despite its cancellation. Colman Domingo also made an impact, earning a supporting actor nomination for “The Four Seasons”.

Selena Gomez and Steve Martin were noticeably absent for “Only Murders in the Building“, and fan-favorite dramas “House of the Dragon” and “1923” didn’t earn a single nod. Elisabeth Moss being overlooked for the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” was another head-scratcher. And despite “The White Lotus” being a major player, Patrick Schwarzenegger—who received widespread praise for his role—was surprisingly left out.

With so much content, Emmy campaigning is more important than ever—think social media blitzes, screenings, and endless buzz. But even the best PR push can’t always guarantee a nomination, especially with voter fatigue setting in.
Snubbed shows like “Only Murders in the Building” and “House of the Dragon” may bounce back next season, and the continued push for diversity and innovation means future Emmy lists could look very different.
The Emmys air September 14, and until then, fans will keep debating who deserved more love—and who might just surprise us on the big night.
