Jessica Fletcher is coming back—and Jamie Lee Curtis is bringing her to life.
The beloved mystery series “Murder, She Wrote”, which ran from 1984 to 1996, is officially getting the reboot treatment. Stepping into the iconic role of amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher, originally played by the legendary Angela Lansbury, is Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis.

Curtis confirmed the news in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, playfully teasing, “Oh, it’s…” followed by a pause—“Happening.” Though thrilled, she was quick to manage expectations. “We’re a minute away. But very excited. Very excited,” she said. “I’m trying to tamp down my enthusiasm until we actually start shooting. I’ve got a couple other things to hustle through first—then I’ll get to enjoy that work.”
A Legacy Reimagined with Jamie Lee Curtis
The original “Murder, She Wrote” followed Jessica Fletcher, a widowed mystery writer with a knack for solving real-life crimes, often in the sleepy seaside town of Cabot Cove, Maine. Lansbury’s performance earned her four Golden Globes and cemented the show as one of the most enduring in TV history. The reboot offers a chance to reintroduce Fletcher to a new generation—while paying tribute to the woman who made the role iconic.

A Strong Team Behind the Scenes
The film adaptation is being penned by “Dumb Money” writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with powerhouse producers Lord Miller and Amy Pascal attached. The creative team is aiming to balance the charm and wit of the original series with a fresh, modern approach.
Jessica Fletcher has remained a pop culture icon for decades. Her intelligence, warmth, and quiet determination made her more than just a detective—she became a symbol of clever, capable women solving problems their own way. Whether fans embrace Curtis’s version remains to be seen, but the reboot is already generating buzz.

With filming still a ways off, no release date has been set. But with Jamie Lee Curtis at the helm and a skilled team behind the scenes, expectations are high. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the original or new to the mysteries of Cabot Cove, the reboot promises to shine a new light on a TV classic.
