Jeff Daniels Added In Key Role For “Shrinking” Season 3
Emmy-winning actor Jeff Daniels (“The Looming Tower”) has joined the cast of “Shrinking” for its third season, where he’ll appear alongside Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. The show, created by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, follows Jimmy (Segel), a therapist dealing with grief, who starts breaking the rules by being completely honest with his clients. Ignoring the usual professional boundaries, he ends up changing not only his clients’ lives but his own as well.
Jeff Daniels’ Return To Comedy
Daniels will play Jimmy’s father in a guest role. This marks Daniels’ return to comedy after focusing on drama for the past decade, including the “Dumb and Dumber” sequel in 2014. “Shrinking” is his first major live-action comedy series role.

The main cast also includes Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley. Goldstein also had a recurring role in season two.
In the second season of “Shrinking”, therapist Jimmy (Jason Segel) continues to cope with the loss of his wife while facing the fallout from his unconventional therapy techniques. As he navigates new relationships and works through the challenges of forgiveness, the season delves into deeper themes of generational struggles and the impact of small, kind gestures.
Jimmy remains haunted by his grief and the consequences of his actions, including a difficult encounter with Grace and her husband. The theme of forgiveness is central, as Jimmy must confront the drunk driver responsible for his wife’s death, a role played by Brett Goldstein.
Daniels, a two-time Emmy winner for “The Newsroom” and “Godless”, recently starred in American Rust and A Man in Full. He will next play former President Ronald Reagan in the upcoming Cold War film “Reykjavik”. “Shrinking” Season 3 is currently in production.
