Jonathan Tropper Confirms Season 2 of ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Is Already Underway—and Teases Big Casting News

Apple TV+ is all in—and so is Tropper, who’s ready to keep the suburban secrets and scandals coming.

The show just premiered, but Season 2 is already locked in
In a rare move that signals major confidence, Apple TV+ greenlit a second season of Your Friends & Neighbors before the series even premiered. While the Jon Hamm-led drama makes its debut today, creator Jonathan Tropper is already deep into planning the next chapter—and he’s thrilled.

“Well, we were green-lit a little while ago, so we already have most of our scripts done and we’re getting ready to go into production,” Tropper told PopViewers’ Chris Witherspoon. “What I love about it is, first of all, just knowing we have a season 2—the fact that Apple really stands behind the show and believes in the show. That’s really important to us.”

No production delays? Tropper says that’s a game-changer
Unlike many series that stall between seasons, Tropper and his team are heading straight back to work without missing a beat. That kind of momentum is rare—and vital.

“Being able to keep all the crew and being able to keep all of our locations and keep everyone in their groove and not having to come back a year, a year and a half later and start rebuilding—that really works well,” he said. “We had such a great production flow going. Being able to keep it going is really great.”

Casting dreams already coming true
While Tropper stopped short of naming names, he dropped a juicy tease about new additions to the ensemble for Season 2.

“I’m not going to divulge my wishlist yet. I’m just going to say it already came true,” he teased. “I’m sure they’ll announce it pretty soon. But we have some exciting casting to announce, and we’re just moving forward.”

A hit in the making—and a story he’s ready to keep telling
With Jon Hamm at the center as disgraced hedge fund manager Andrew “Coop” Cooper, Your Friends & Neighbors is already generating buzz, boasting strong reviews and a Rotten Tomatoes score that signals a hit. Tropper credits Hamm’s early involvement—both as lead actor and executive producer—with helping the show find its legs.

“I actually didn’t write the pilot until I had him involved,” Tropper shared in his PopViewers interview. “I pitched him the show before I sold it. Got his interest, wrote the pilot, and showed it to him before I showed it to anybody else. Once he signed on, we took it together to Apple TV+. I think walking in with Jon Hamm is a lot different than walking in without him.”

Now, with Apple TV+ backing the show for a second season, Tropper is clear: he’s just getting started.

“I’ll tell this story as long as they keep letting me tell it.”
