“Freakier Friday” Premise
The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice, teases the synopsis.

Disney confirmed the sequel was in the works last June, after years of speculation. Lohan shared in March 2024 that the film was “in the process,” and production wrapped in August. Both stars celebrated the end of filming on Instagram.
Lohan posted on August 19, “It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday and my heart is so full. The wonderful cast, crew, and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie!”

Returning from the original film are Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, and others. New cast members include Vanessa Bayer, Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons. Lohan revealed that Jacinto will play her character’s husband in the new movie.
Freakier Friday hits theaters on August 8.
