Nicole Kidman Heats up Screens in Her Boldest Role Yet in A24’s Steamy Thriller ‘Babygirl’
From “The Perfect Couple” to a wild office romance, Nicole Kidman can do it all!
In the freshly dropped trailer for A24’s Babygirl—things get dangerously steamy for Nicole Kidman’s character, Romy, a high-powered CEO who finds herself tangled in a risky affair with her much younger intern, Samuel, played by Harris Dickinson. And trust us, things heat up fast!
It all starts with a chance encounter when Samuel heroically stops a rogue dog from attacking Romy. The spark is undeniable, and soon after, the two are formally introduced at her company—where, surprise surprise, Samuel is the newest hire, and Romy is his mentor. What could go wrong, right? Well, everything.
Soon enough, their sizzling secret romance kicks off behind the backs of Romy’s husband (Antonio Banderas), their daughter, and the entire office. In one particularly charged scene, Samuel lays down the rules of their affair: “If we’re gonna do this, we need to set some rules that you and I both agree on. Starting with, I tell you what to do, and you do it.” Suddenly, the power dynamic shifts, and Romy, once in control, is caught in a web spun by Samuel—a game that’s not as harmless as she first thought. As their relationship deepens, it becomes clear that Samuel’s motives might not be as pure as his charm, leaving Romy with no control and, ironically, forced to play the “good girl.”
Directed by Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Babygirl made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where Kidman, 57, opened up about taking on such a daring role.
“This definitely leaves me exposed and vulnerable and frightened,” she said during a press event. “But making it with these people here—it was delicate, intimate, and very, very deep.”
Kidman also touched on why she felt so comfortable in such a vulnerable role, giving credit to Reijn’s careful direction. “Being in Halina’s hands made it so compelling. I knew she wasn’t going to exploit me,” Kidman explained. “However people interpret it, I didn’t feel exploited. I felt like I was part of telling a story I deeply believed in, and I was fully committed to it.”
Get ready—this isn’t just another office romance. Babygirl promises to deliver suspense, seduction, and some serious twists that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
“Babygirl” is set to be released in theaters on Christmas Day.
