Nicole Kidman’s ‘Holland’ Looks Twisted in First Trailer—And We’re So Here for It

Nicole Kidman is about to make small-town living look seriously sinister. The first trailer for Holland has just dropped, and let’s just say—this is not your average suburban thriller. In fact, it’s giving Gone Girl meets Fresh with a touch of “Should I ever trust my husband again?” existential crisis.

A Perfect Life… Until It Isn’t
In this wildly unpredictable film, Kidman stars as Nancy Vandergroot, a home economics teacher who’s perfectly content with her all-American life in the picturesque, tulip-filled town of Holland, Michigan. She’s got the charming husband (Matthew Macfadyen), the sweet son (Jude Hill), and a life so wholesome that her biggest worry seems to be whether to use yellow or brown mustard in her meatloaf. (Girl, the stakes are about to change.)
A Husband with a Secret—Or Something Much Worse?
But then… things get dark.
Nancy starts suspecting that her husband Fred—played by Succession’s very own emotionally manipulative king, Macfadyen—might not be the perfect man she thought he was. Enter Gael García Bernal’s character, Dave, a shop teacher who helps her investigate. And let’s just say, whatever Fred is up to? It’s not just some innocent little side hustle.

The trailer teases a twisted journey filled with deception, double lives, and potential murder (!!!). Is Nancy’s paranoia justified, or is she unraveling something much bigger than she ever imagined? And more importantly—who really holds the power in this picture-perfect town?
A Stacked Cast and a Killer Creative Team
Directed by Mimi Cave (Fresh) and written by Andrew Sodroski (Manhunt: Unabomber), Holland marks another powerhouse collaboration between Kidman and Prime Video, following Being the Ricardos and Expats.
The cast is stacked with talent, including:
- Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) as Candy Deboer
- Lennon Parham (Playing House) as Lennon
- Isaac Krasner (Big Boys) as Shawn Graumann
- Jeff Pope (Interview with the Vampire) as Squiggs Graumann
If you’re lucky enough to be at SXSW, you’ll get an early look at Holland on March 8. The rest of us will have to wait until it drops on Prime Video on March 27, 2025.
