“I was telling her that I felt so guilty,” Schwarzenegger said, reflecting on the finale’s shocking moments. “I wanted this arc for Saxon where I could tell her, ‘I wish I took the bullet for you. I wish I came at the end and saved you or something, this beautiful moment.’”

Despite Saxon’s fate not aligning with his hopes, Schwarzenegger expressed his admiration for Wood, who he described as “such a great friend on set” and a joy to work alongside. “She’s so much fun to work opposite,” he added, emphasizing the bond they shared during production.

Patrick Schwarzenegger on Saxon’s Development
As for his character, Saxon’s development throughout the season was anything but smooth. When the season began, fans weren’t exactly fans of Saxon, with many viewers expressing disdain for his character. But, as the season progressed, Schwarzenegger teased that Saxon would undergo a major transformation. “I mean, he started on such a one-note [character] and ended up in a different place,” Schwarzenegger explained. “I was disliked. I was severely hated. And I told people, you know, just wait. It’s only three episodes, the show’s eight episodes, let the character arc build.”

He recalled the reactions from fans early on, saying, “When I was walking the streets of New York in the first weeks, people were like, ‘Oh, I hate you. I love to hate your character.’ But now it’s sweet to see people saying how much they love Saxon.” It’s clear that the character’s arc resonated with viewers as the season unfolded.
Patrick Schwarzenegger on “The White Lotus” Future
Saxon and his family’s storyline in the finale left them with nothing after losing their fortune. When asked about what’s next for the Ratliffs, Schwarzenegger said he didn’t know, but he did offer a humorous suggestion. “I saw a funny tweet that said, ‘I hope in season 4, Saxon comes back as the janitor or he’s the health guru at the new hotel.’ But I don’t know,” he said. “Obviously, Mike [White] leaves things open-ended and wants the conversation to be had amongst the viewers, and who knows where the Ratliffs go?”

While the family’s future may appear bleak, Schwarzenegger believes that Saxon himself may have ended the season on a more positive note. “I think personally, I ended on a high note, kind of,” he said with a smile, indicating that there may still be hope for his character.
As “The White Lotus” continues to capture audiences with its stunning twists and complex characters, Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of Saxon adds another layer to the show’s exploration of wealth, privilege, and self-discovery. Fans are eager to see where Saxon’s story will go next, and if his character can continue to evolve in future seasons.
