Move Over, “Ted Lasso”: Apple TV+’s “Stick” Starring Owen Wilson Is the Feel-Good Sports Comedy You Didn’t Know You Needed

Apple TV+ is hitting the links with “Stick“, a ten-episode sports comedy series starring Owen Wilson and breakout talent Peter Dager. Premiering Wednesday, June 4 with the first three episodes, the show will roll out new episodes weekly through July 23.
“Stick” Premise
Created by Jason Keller—who also serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Wilson—Stick follows Pryce Cahill (Wilson), a former professional golfer whose once-promising career has long since unraveled. Now divorced and out of work after being fired from an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce is at rock bottom—until a twist of fate introduces him to Santi (Dager), a 17-year-old with extraordinary talent on the golf course.

The official synopsis reads: “After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi (Dager).”

What unfolds is a poignant and humorous journey as the unlikely pair navigate personal setbacks, the competitive golf world, and their growing bond. The series is billed as being “a heartfelt, feel-good sports comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before.”

“Stick” Cast and Production
The ensemble cast includes Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, and Lilli Kay, with special appearances by PGA stars such as Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, and Wyndham Clark. Cameos also feature broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, Good Good Golf’s Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke, and Garrett Clark, along with journalist Dan Rapaport.

Blending humor, heart, and high-stakes competition, Stick is a compelling story about second chances, unexpected mentorship, and discovering family in the most unlikely places—set against a backdrop of golf like audiences have never seen before. “Stick” streams on Apple TV+ on June 4.
