Tessa Thompson and writer-director Nia DaCosta team up for Hedda, a modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s 1890 classic Hedda Gabler.
The official trailer which dropped on Aug. 23, shows Thompson as Hedda. A married woman who seems to have it all until one night turns her world upside down. When an old flame suddenly comes back into her life, Hedda is forced to confront both her past and present in a story full of hidden desires, secrets, and betrayal.
DaCosta puts her own twist on the original by rewriting Eilert Lövborg, Hedda’s former lover, as a woman, played by Nina Hoss. The film also stars Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Eve Hewson, Kathryn Hunter, Nicholas Pinnock, and more.
According to Vanity Fair this queer romance drama will make its full debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 7, before hitting select theaters on Oct. 22 and then streaming worldwide on Prime Video starting Oct. 29.
