What to Watch This Weekend

With both "Master of None" and "The Chi" returning, it's officially the weekend of Lena Waithe! But there's also plenty of other content that's poppin'! Here are our top picks!

Army of the Dead

Watch on Netflix

The Las Vegas strip has been quieter than usual this past year, but at least it hasn’t been this dead! In this new Zach Snyder film, a group of mercenaries descend into Las Vegas after a zombie outbreak and attempt to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted! Snyder has been one of the most buzzed-about directors this year and you can expect tons of gore in what many have called his best film yet!

The Me You Can’t See

Watch on Apple TV+

After their bombshell interview together earlier this year, Prince Harry and Oprah have teamed up once again- this time for a docuseries about mental health and wellbeing. The series is star-studded and features conversations with Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, DeMar DeRozan, and more. While the names attached couldn’t get much bigger- ultimately, the series aims to show how mental health impacts each and every one of us regardless of whether or not you used to be a royal.

Master of None presents: Moments in Love

Watch on Netflix

After a hiatus of four years, “Master of None” is back for season three! This season of the show is inspired by Lena Waithe’s Emmy Award-winning episode, “Thanksgiving” and will follow the love story between Waithe’s character, Denise, and Alicia (played by Naomi Ackie.) Idk about you… but we’re ready to fall in love!

But wait….. there’s MORE!

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. (Watch on Hulu)

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, this adult animated series tells the story of a megalomaniacal supervillain who runs his evil organization into the ground while trying to conquer the world. For the uninitiated- M.O.D.O.K. stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing…. casual!

Special: Season 2 (Watch on Netflix)

This revolutionary comedy-drama series about life as a gay millennial with cerebral palsy is back for a second and final season.

In Treatment: Season 4 (Watch on HBO, Sunday at 9 pm ET)

After more than a decade off of the air, “In Treatment” is back- this time with a new therapist played by Uzo Aduba. Set in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 24-episode season finds Aduba’s character helping her clients adjust to our new pandemic lifestyle.

P!NK: All I Know So Far (Watch on Amazon Prime Video)

This new backstage concert documentary shows both the onstage punk star and the offstage parent side of Pink. Knowing how she likes to perform, we can only imagine that this documentary will soar!

The Chi: Season 4 (Sunday, May 23 at 9pm ET/PT on Showtime)

This weekend’s other Lena Waithe project- this coming of age story about life on Chicago’s south side returns to Showtime for a fourth season.

Eurovision (Stream on Peacock)

It’s the international song competition that the rest of the world freaks out about, but most Americans have never heard of. For the first time EVER you can actually (legally) stream this campy songfest in the states on Peacock! For those unfamiliar, this is where acts like ABBA and Celine Dion got their start! Expect crazy costumes, outlandish pop tunes, and ultimately an incredible time!

Billboard Music Awards (Watch on NBC, Sunday at 8 pm ET)

If American radio hits are more your speed, you’ll want to watch the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. Performers include The Weeknd, Pink, Alicia Keyes, BTS, and many more. If you’re thinking…. didn’t the Billboard Awards JUST happen?? You’re not crazy! Last year’s ceremony was in October due to a delay because of COVID. But, hey- after a year of little life entertainment, we could also use more!
