What to Watch This Weekend

From 181st street to the streets of Paris, there's plenty of new content to keep you entertained this weekend! Here's what's poppin'!

In The Heights

In theaters and on HBO Max

After a year of pandemic-related delays, it’s finally lights up on the “In the Heights” movie. This is Jon Chu’s (director of “Crazy Rich Asians”) hotly anticipated adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first Broadway musical. It tells the story of a community on the northern tip of Manhattan that’s on the brink of change. With a killer score by Miranda and phenomenal performances by a cast of Latino actors, this is the perfect movie to celebrate being able to gather together again in a theater. (Although if you’re still hesitant, the film is also available to stream on HBO Max.) Wepa!

Loki

Watch on Disney+

Disney+ is continuing its streak of MCU live-action series with this spinoff starring Tom Hiddleston. After stealing the Tesseract during “Avengers: Endgame,” this alternate version of Loki (the God of Mischief) is brought to the Time Variance Authority and given a choice: either get erased from existence due to being a “time-variant” OR help fix the timeline. “Loki” has already been called Marvel’s most audacious spinoff yet, and audiences should expect a riotously weird adventure. If you’re a fan of Marvel- this is definitely one you’re not going to want to miss!

Lupin (Part 2)

Watch on Netflix

Viewers who were left hanging after the giant cliffhanger at the end of Part 1 of “Lupin” are in luck! The world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise is back in action for the second part of this French series. Jam-packed with heists, revenge, and Parisian style, this series put Omar Sy’s name on the map and is definitely one you’re going to find yourself binge-watching!

But wait…. there’s more!

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (In Theaters)

In this enjoyably silly sequel, Peter finds himself venturing out of the garden and discovering a world that appreciates his signature sense of mischief. If you liked the first film, this new installment in the franchise should leave you feeling MORE than hoppy!

Kevin Can F**k Himself (Sunday on AMC, 9pm ET)

Schitt’s Creek breakout, Annie Murphy, stars in this dark comedy that alternates between a multi-cam sitcom and a single-camera drama. Murphy plays a stereotypical sitcom wife who, after making a dark discovery, decides that she’ll be the one to get the last laugh.

Love, Victor: Season 2 (Watch on Hulu)

Just in time for Pride, we’re getting a new season of Love, Victor (a spin-off of the wildly popular film, Love, Simon.) Season 1 ended with the cliffhanger of Victor coming out to his family! In this new season, we follow the aftermath of announcement as Victor comes out to his school.

Vanderpump Dogs (Watch on Peacock)

The former Real Housewives star whose tagline was “I’m passionate about dogs, just not crazy about bitches” is coming to Peacock with this series about her West Hollywood dog rescue center. Lisa Vanderpump struck TV gold with her reality series documenting the lives of her restaurant employees. Can she do it again with her dogs?!? Either way- we’re ALL the way here for this canine cuteness!
