What to Watch This Weekend

Just like Gossip Girl, we've never been ones to keep a secret! Here's your scoop on all of this weekend's buzziest new TV shows and movies!

Gossip Girl

Watch on HBO Max

xoxo Gossip Girl! Everyone’s favorite anonymous dirt-dishing gossip is back, and this time they’re haunting Gen-Z-ers! Still set among a group of affluent teenagers on the Upper East Side, this reboot takes a more modern and inclusive approach to its storytelling. Naturally, many of the changes have to do with the ways in which the internet has evolved since the series first premiered in 2007. Will the show live up to the high-camp and absurdity of the original? We’re definitely hopping in a cab to the UES to find out.

Black Widow

Watch in theaters and on Disney+

Summer blockbusters are making a comeback! Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, this action-packed spy thriller tells the story of Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, who must confront darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy theory from her past arises. Ever since Black Widow first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been clamoring for a standalone movie and, at long last, Marvel has delivered! Oh- and also, the movie stars powerhouse actresses like Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz!

The White Lotus

Watch on HBO, Sunday, July 11 at 9 pm ET

Anyone in the mood for a vacation? Directed by Mike White (Enlightened), this series follows the adventures of a group of various guests and employees at an exclusive Hawaiin resort over the span of one week. A dark satire of class in America, the show points at how the ultra-wealthy use and spit out underlings as a way of feeling secure in their privilege. (Did we mention what’s being called a career-best performance from Jennifer Coolidge?!?) We’re definitely checking in for this one.

Bonus Picks:

RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness (Watch on Netflix)

Based on the hit video game series, this action-packed show follows Federal agent Leon S. Kennedy who teams up with Claire Redfield to investigate a zombie outbreak.

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (Watch on Netflix)

No, you’re not going crazy- Netflix did just release the first part of this trilogy last week! While part one covered 1994, this week we’re headed back in time to 1978 for a visit to Camp Crystal Lake aka Camp Nighthawk.

The Real Housewives of Potomac (Watch on Bravo, Sunday, July 11 at 8 pm ET)

The ladies of Potomac are back in action! If you’re a fan of the Real Housewives but you’re still sleeping on Potomac, this is your wake-up call! What these ladies lack in a “big city” they more than make up for with their big personalities.

The Loneliest Whale (Watch in theaters and on-demand)

Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier produce this documentary about the quest to find the “52 Hertz Whale” which scientists believe has spent its entire life alone because it calls out at a different frequency than any other whale.
