What to Watch This Weekend

Who's in the mood for an adventure? From the Knights of the Round Table to the rough waters of the Amazon, this weekend's new content should satisfy the part of you that's ready to leave the couch and see the world! (Even if it's just an island with f-boys...)

The Green Knight

Watch in Theaters

King Arthur, but make it arthouse? In this A24-produced medieval epic, Dev Patel plays Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s nephew, who embarks on a mission to face off with the Green Knight. Along the way he encounters a talking fox, a land of giants, and a multitude of other challenges that he takes on with aplomb in an effort to prove himself to both his family and his kingdom. While it won’t be for everyone, if you’re a fan of the sword-and-sorcery genre, this may just be your holy grail!

Watch in Theaters

Talk about a rough vacation! In this movie, Matt Damon plays Bill Baker, an unemployed roughneck from Oklahoma, who travels to Marseille to visit his daughter who is imprisoned there for a murder that she claims to have not committed. Deterred by cultural differences, a language barrier, and a legal system that doesn’t take well to foreigners, the challenges are aplenty. The steak frites and bordeaux will have to wait!

Jungle Cruise

Watch in Theaters and on Disney+

Sit down you’re ROCK-ing the boat! Based on the Jungle Cruise theme-park ride, Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt star in this rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon. The two adventurers set out to discover an ancient tree that would forever change the future of medicine, but they soon realize that the rainforest isn’t quite as serene as it seems.

Bonus Picks:

FBoy Island (Watch on HBO Max)

Yup, this is exactly what you think it is from the title. In this new reality show, three women move to a tropical island where they’re joined by 24 guys. Half of the men are nice guys looking for love, and the other half are “fboys” who are only there to compete for cash.

The Pursuit of Love (Watch on Prime Video)

Anglophiles rejoice! If you’ve been missing Bridgerton perhaps this will hold you over! Set in Europe before WWII, this BBC miniseries follows a sex-obsessed Linda Radlett (played by Lily James) and her cousin Fanny Logan (Emily Beecham) as they leave the country for the big city in (naturally) the pursuit of love.

Behind the Music (Watch on Paramount +)

The groundbreaking music documentary series is back! Artists set to be included are Jennifer Lopez, LL Cool J, Ricky Martin, Huey Lewis, Busta Rhymes and Fat Joe.

Resort to Love (Watch on Netflix)

If you love a rom-com this one is for you! After a music career meltown, aspiring pop star Erica takes a gig at a luxurious island resort where she ends up as the entertainment at her ex-fiancé’s wedding!
