What to Watch This Weekend

The temperature outside may be dropping, but the new content just keeps heating up! Here are the new TV shows and movies that are poppin' this weekend!

THE HARDER THEY FALL

Watch on Netflix

The Black western film you’ve been waiting for is finally here! Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, and Regina King star in this film about an outlaw who reassembles his former gang to seek revenge against the man who murdered his parents. It’s a well-worn template, but with a formidable cast that challenges the stereotype of what audiences typically think of when they think of Westerns. You’ll want to giddy on over to the couch for this one!

SPENCER

Watch in Theaters

Kristen Stewart stars in this Pablo Larraín directed biopic about Princess Diana. In typical Larraín fashion, the film focuses on just a few fateful days of Diana’s life rather than attempting to tell her entire story in one film. It’s a reimagining of Diana and Prince Charles’ trip to the Queen’s Sandringham Estate during Christmas time. Critics have praised Stewart’s performance as a career-best… who knows, perhaps we’ll be seeing her take the crown come Oscars time!

ETERNALS

Watch in Theaters

Chloé Zhao (director of Best Picture winner, “Nomadland”) enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this ambitious epic about ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. They finally come to light after a tragedy that forces them to confront mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants. The ensemble cast features actors such as Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. If you’re an MCU fan, this is not an installment that you’re going to want to miss.

FINCH (Watch on Apple TV+ and in Theaters)

Tom Hanks, a robot, and a dog walk into a bar…. or something like that. Hanks stars in this film as a robotics engineer who, after surviving a cataclysmic solar event, builds a robot to care for his dog, Goodyear, for when he no longer can. It’s about as soft and cuddly as a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film can be!

DR. BRAIN (Watch on Apple TV+)

If Korean thrillers have been on your mind ever since watching “Squid Game” this foreign series may just be for you! “Parasite” star, Lee Sun-kyun stars as a brain specialist who, after his family is involved in a mysterious accident, figures out a way to hack into the brains of the dead to see memories of what happened.

HEAD OF THE CLASS (Watch on HBO Max)

Isabella Gomez stars in this reboot of the 1986-1991 ABC sitcom, as a young and unconventional teacher who strives to have her high-achieving students focus on more than just classwork. Keep your eyes peeled for queen Robin Givens who is reprising her role of Darlene Hayward!

BIG MOUTH: Season 5 (Watch on Netflix)

This hit animated sitcom is back for a fifth season! This year, the hormonal students of Bridgeton Middle School are receiving company in the form of lovebugs and hate worms. Special shoutout to Keke Palmer who voices a hate worm named Rochelle!

DICKINSON: Season 3 (Watch on Apple TV+)

Dickinson’s final season picks up in the height of the Civil War as Dickinson and the community around her reevaluate their lives during a time of great upheaval. Hmm… sound familiar? This season features guest stars such as Billy Eichner as Walt Whitman, Ziwe as Sojourner Truth, and Chloe Fineman as Sylvia Plath.

DEXTER: NEW BLOOD (Watch on Showtime)

After the finale of the original mid-aughts hit left a bad taste in fans’ mouths, Dexter is back to cleanse their palates. Whether or not the series accomplishes this is has yet to be seen. (We can’t wait to see your reactions!) This new series finds our favorite serial killer living quiet New York town where he works as a clerk in a fishing and gaming store.
