What to Watch This Weekend

Batman, Batty Cat Owners, and Black Turtlenecks... what more could you ask for? Here's what's poppin' this weekend!

THE BATMAN

Watch in Theaters

Holy Batman! Undoubtedly the biggest blockbuster of the weekend comes in the form of this new addition to the Batman franchise. The movie features Robert Pattinson making his debut as the Caped Crusader along with Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Paul Dano. So far critics have not only called the film one of the best Batman movies ever made- many have dubbed it one of the best comic book movies ever made period! High praise indeed! We look forward to hearing from the PopViewers as to whether or not it lives up to the hype. Don’t mind us as we toss on our capes and head to the picture show!

JOE VS. CAROLE

Watch on Peacock

That’s right- the Tiger King mania continues with this scripted adaptation of the 2019 Wondery podcast “Joe Exotic: Tiger King.” The series stars Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin along with John Cameron Mitchell playing Joe Exotic. If you watched the Netflix documentary and wanted a more in-depth exploration of the rivalry between these two, then you’ll definitely want to check this out. We can only imagine that with a story this crazy, there will be many W-T-F moments in store!

THE DROPOUT

Watch on Hulu

Nothing is more in vogue right now than a scammer show! The latest entry into this popular pantheon is this limited series surrounding Elizabeth Holmes and her company Theranos. It’s a tale about how quickly fame and ambition can go wrong in… well… the time it takes for a finger prick. The show stars Amanda Seyfried as Holmes and follows her as she goes from being a Stanford dropout to becoming one of the most infamous American CEOs in recent memory. It remains to be seen what the series will do for the black turtleneck industry.

It’s a race against time as he tries to piece together his memory all while figures from his past try to pursue him.

FRESH (Watch on Hulu)

The dating scene can be a real terror, but this movie takes it to a whole new level. What starts out as a typical romantic comedy quickly turns into a horror movie when a girl (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) agrees to go on a date to a remote cabin for the weekend. Rookie move girl, rookie move.
