What to Watch This Weekend

From the First Family to the First Family of television, there's plenty of new content to keep you entertained this weekend! Here's what's poppin'!

THE FIRST LADY

Watch on Showtime

Talk about a powerhouse trio! This new series reframes American leadership through the lens of the First Ladies. It stars Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt and delves deep into both the personal and political lives of these incredible women. Oh say can you see Emmys in the future?!?

THE KARDASHIANS

Watch on Hulu

Since the very last frame of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” last year, it has seemed all but inevitable that reality TV’s first family would be making their way back to our screens sometime soon. Well, our friends, that time has arrived and this time they are bringing their family drama to Hulu. Frankly, the show is… pretty much the same as their show on E! But with lives as endlessly fascinating as theirs the show is still rarely boring all of these seasons later. If you’re a fan of the Kardashian clan, you’re definitely going to want to keep up.

FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE

Watch in Theaters

Accio another Harry Potter prequel. The Fantastic Beasts franchise beats on with this new installment. This film is the third one in the series and is centered around Dumbledore (Jude Law) who works to gather together a band of wizards led by Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to go on a dangerous mission to stop the Dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald, from seizing control of the entire wizarding world. Does the Potter franchise still have some magic left in it? We cannot wait to see your reaction on the app!

Further Viewing:

ROAR (Watch on Apple TV)

We don’t know about you, but the trailer for this new anthology series features a clip of Nicole Kidman inexplicably eating photographs, so naturally, we were hooked! The show comes from the creators of GLOW and features an all-star cast including Issa Rae, Merritt Wever, Cynthia Erivo, Betty Gilpin, and Alison Brie. It weaves together eight different feminist fables that ultimately result in one giant… well… roar.

KILLING IT (Watch on Peacock)

Anyone down to hunt some snakes? This comedy stars Craig Robinson as a man in need of money who partners with an Uber driver (played by Claudia O’Doherty) to participate in a government-sanctioned contest to kill reptiles and receive a reward in return. It sounds bizarre, but we have high hopes for this send-up of the American dream.

OUTER RANGE (Watch on Prime Video)

What happens when Josh Brolin finds a hole in the backyard? This is essentially the main question raised in this new western thriller. We promise though, it’s more exciting than it might initially sound. Think murder mystery/ sci-fi drama in Wyoming and you’re onto what this show is aiming to accomplish.

OUR GREAT NATIONAL PARKS (Watch on Netflix)

Just in case watching Viola Davis embody Michelle Obama wasn’t enough this weekend, you can watch Michelle’s husband (heard of him? we think he might have a bright future) take you through some of the world’s most impressive parks.
