What to Watch This Weekend

It's the end of an era at Netflix as one of their most popular series and their longest-running series come to an end this weekend. Here's what's poppin'!

GRACE AND FRANKIE: Series Finale

Watch on Netflix

After seven seasons, Netflix’s longest-running show ever is coming to an end. This would be a major feat for any show, but for a show about women over 75, it’s a downright miracle! [cough cough] Are you listening Hollywood?!? See the success that can come from shining a light on a typically under-represented demographic? Of course, having two comedic legends like Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda at the helm certainly helped matters. Oh btw- these final episodes feature a highly-anticipated cameo from Dolly Parton! We stan a 9 to 5 reunion moment!

OZARK: Series Finale

Watch on Netflix

Bye, Bye, Byrde-y! (Sorry- we had to do it!) This weekend marks the final run of episodes for this Emmy-winning crime drama. The show follows the Byrde family, who move from Chicago to the Ozarks to launder money for a Mexican cartel. Naturally, chaos then proceeds to follow them everywhere they go. Will the family have a happy ending? We have our doubts. We’ll miss the blue-tinged lighting most of all!

UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN

Watch on Hulu

Inspired by John Krakauer’s 2003 true crime book, this series stars Andrew Garfield as a detective investigating the murder of a woman and her baby in Utah. His investigation leads him to uncovering the seedy underbelly of the LDS religion and calls into question the violent consequences of unyielding faith. Garfield is coming off of a string of tremendous performances, so we can only imagine more of the same here!

SHINING GIRLS (Watch on Apple TV+)

Elisabeth Moss stars in this thriller as an aspiring reporter whose reality is upended when she’s attacked by a serial killer. Years after, she’s left in a constantly shifting reality in which the one constant is the killer and the case. It’s an experimental approach to your typical murder mystery, but one that Moss pulls off in spades. (Also- it’s produced by Leonardo DiCaprio!)

THE OFFER (Watch on Paramount+)

This year marks the 50th anniversary of “The Godfather.” In celebration of this milestone, this new series has come along which dramatizes the difficult process of how the movie got made. It stars Miles Teller, Colin Hanks, Matthew Goode, and Juno Temple.

I LOVE THAT FOR YOU (Watch on Showtime)

Vanessa Bayer stars and created this series about a home shopping network host who says she has cancer in order to not get fired. It’s not a complete lie as she did survive childhood leukemia. But needless to say- it’s enough of a stretch of the truth that it throws her entire world into orbit. The cast also includes Jenifer Lewis and Molly Shannon.

ZIWE: Season 2 (Watch on Showtime)

Ziwe’s hilariously confrontational variety show is back for a season two. She’s going there and tackling subjects like Critical Race Theory, Gay Pride, Woke Capitalism, and more.

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA (Watch on Bravo)

Marlo got her peach! The ladies of ATL are back in action for season 14 of this ever-popular franchise. With personalities like these, you know this season will not be anything less than “gone with the wind fabulous” baby!
