What to Watch This Weekend

Girls5Eva

Stream on Peacock

We have no choice but to stan. In this new Peacock comedy from executive producer Tina Fey, members of a Y2K-era girl group reunite in their forties to chase the fame that evaded them as younger women. The show stars actresses Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, and Paula Pell. If you’re an “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” or “30 Rock” fan this is definitely one that you’re going to want to check out.

We are SO ready for this battle.

Monster

Watch on Netflix

This film originally debuted at Sundance in 2018 and is now finally available to a larger audience on Netflix. Based on the young adult novel of the same name, the movie tells the story of 17-year-old honors student, Steve Harmon. Steve has the world ahead of him until he’s charged with felony murder. Soon he must battle for his innocence and life within a court system that’s already judged him. The film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Jennifer Hudson and forces us to reexamine whether “justice for all” exists for all of us or only a privileged few.
