1. “Freakier Friday” (Watch in Theaters)
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back, and this time it’s getting even freakier. “Freakier Friday”, hits theaters today, Friday Aug. 8, serving as the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 2003 classic “Freaky Friday”.
Lohan’s character, Anna is now a single mother juggling her career, parenting, and navigating a new relationship with her daughter’s sworn enemy. The feud between her daughter and future step-daughter leads to a hilarious and unexpected four-way body swap.
Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Tess, and the beloved mother and daughter duo are joined by two new characters, Harper, played by Julia Butler and Sophia Hammons as Lilly. Returning cast members include Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess, Chad Michael Murry, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal, Haley Hudson, and Ryan Malgarini.
If you loved the original and are in the mood for a hilarious body-swap comedy, “Freakier Friday” is the perfect theater pick.

2. “Weapons” (Watch in Theater)
Barbarian, writer and director, Zach Cregger, is back with another unpredictable horror film. This time, it’s about missing children. “Weapons”, starring Julia Garner and Benedict Wong, follows a town of desperate parents as they search for answers behind the disappearance of seventeen children that mysteriously vanished at the same time on the same night.
The New York Post is already calling Weapons “The best horror film of the summer.” The cast also includes Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, and June Diane Raphael. This chilling horror movie will keep you glued to your seat as you second-guess every clue. “Weapons” hits theaters today, Friday, Aug. 8, 2025.

3. “The Pickup” (Watch on Prime Video)
Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson team up for the action-packed comedy, “The Pickup”. The film follows Murphy and Davidson’s characters, two armored truck drivers whose normal day takes a wild turn when criminals hijack their route and force them into a heist.
The cast also features, Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Jack Kesy, Andrew Dice Clay, and Roman Reigns. If you’re looking for some laughs with a side of high-stakes chaos, “The Pickup” is your next watch. It dropped Aug. 6 and is now streaming on Prime.

4. “Wednesday” (Watch on Netflix)
The Emmy-award winning Netflix series, “Wednesday”, is back for a second season. Starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, the second season includes eight episodes split into two-parts. Part one premiered on Wednesday, Aug. 6, almost three years after the first season.
The first four episodes pick up with Wednesday back at Nevermore, with a few surprises waiting for her. Co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar told Tudum that this season takes her on a “darker and more complex” journey as she juggles family, friends, new mysteries, and old enemies.
Along with Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Jamie McShane, and Fred Armisen reprise their roles. New cast members will also join the crew like Lady Gaga, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, and Billie Piper.
Part 2 premieres Sept. 3. Until then, if you’ve been craving Wednesday’s sharp wit paired with some supernatural chaos, “Wednesday” Season 2 part 1 is streaming now on Netflix.

5. “Platonic” (Watch on Apple TV+)
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, return for season 2 of “Platonic”. The show follows two friends as they navigate the awkwardness of adulthood. In this comedic series Rogen and Byrne reprise their roles as best friends surviving cringe-worthy encounters along with a healthy dose of wine-fueled antics.
The first two episodes of “Platonic” season two premiered on Aug.6, 2025 and are now available to stream on Apple TV+.

6. “Las Culturistas Culture Awards” (Watch on Peacock)
“Las Culturistas Culture Awards”, debuted on Bravo for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 5. What began as a joke on Comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ podcast, Las Culturistas, turned into a star-studded award show celebrating the best in pop culture.
The guest list was packed with big names like Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeff Goldblum, and Reneé Rapp. The awards themselves cover everything from the Pop Crave Award for Excellence in Journalism to the Power in Lesbianism award, and even the Filet Mignon Award for Best Beef. “The Las Culturistas Culture Awards” are streaming now, only on Peacock.
