Apple Studios has released the trailer for “Echo Valley”, a psychological thriller that dives deep into the emotional fault lines between a mother and daughter. Starring Julianne Moore (“May December”) and Sydney Sweeney (“Euphoria”), the film promises a gripping, character-driven story set against the quiet unease of rural Pennsylvania.

“Echo Valley” Premise

The story follows Kate Garretson (Moore), a woman grappling with deep personal loss while living a solitary life on Echo Valley Farm—22 secluded acres where she trains and boards horses. Her fragile peace is shattered when her estranged daughter Claire (Sweeney) shows up late one night, frightened, trembling, and covered in blood that isn’t hers.

“As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival,” reads the official logline. The film’s tagline describes it as “a heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.”

To portray Claire with authenticity, Sweeney immersed herself in stories of addiction, watching hundreds of interviews with addicts from Los Angeles’ Skid Row and pulling from her own life. “I’ve had a lot of family members deal with addiction and then struggle with similar issues as Claire and her friends,” she told Vanity Fair. “There’s a manipulation underneath a lot of it. But when there was love in the air in the room, you truly still felt it. The person that they are at the core, as buried as they might be, is still there.”

Julianne Moore also teased the moral complexity at the heart of the film. “These are my favorite kinds of movies: movies about relationships,” Moore said. “What will people do for one another? What kind of decisions do you make? How far will you go? I’m kind of curious what the reaction will be. There will be a sense, certainly, among parents going, like, ‘Well, would I do that? How far would I go?’ You’re left with those questions.”

Written by “Mare of Easttown” creator Brad Ingelsby and directed by BAFTA winner Michael Pearce (“Beast”), Echo Valley also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, Fiona Shaw, and Edmund Donovan. Tense, intimate, and morally charged, “Echo Valley” is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most emotionally gripping thrillers yet. “Echo Valley” streams on Apple TV+ on June 13.
