You might recognize her from Orange Is the New Black, Power, The First Purge, Precious, and most recently on the hit TV series Manifest. She’s not just an actress, but a renowned comedian appearing on Def Comedy Jam and BET’s Comic View. Her name is Mugga! No last name is needed.
In an interview with Chris Witherspoon, PopViewers Founder/CEO, Mugga opened up about her unique name, finding her voice, and how she transitioned from stand-up comedy to acting.
“Comedy offered me a voice and a sense of control with a microphone. I love the sound of laughter! It does something to my heart.”
In Manifest, Mugga plays flight attendant Bethany Collins who works aboard flight 828, a plane that vanishes after takeoff and lands 5 and a half years later.
The actress discusses how she connected with her character and also the significance of playing an LGBTQ character on TV.
In June, Manifest was canceled on NBC after 3 seasons, but recently Netflix announced after weeks of negotiations, they closed a deal for a super-sized fourth and final season of the missing plane drama, which will be available exclusively on the streamer worldwide.
Fingers crossed we will get another dose of Mugga in Manifest season 4.
