Stars were shining bright at Dumbo House in Brooklyn, New York, last night as PopViewers hosted its signature Vibes & Views event, teaming up with Creatricity to deliver an unforgettable evening of conversation, celebration, and connection. The event was standing room only, packed with fans, tastemakers, and creatives eager to experience the latest installment of this dynamic series.
The highlight of the night? A lively Q&A featuring Harlem cast members Jerrie Johnson and Bevy Smith, who captivated the crowd with their heartfelt insights into the series that has redefined sisterhood on screen.
A Celebration of Harlem and Its Final Season
Attendees were treated to an exclusive screening of the first episode of Harlem‘s highly anticipated third season. Created by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip), the hit Prime Video comedy series has become a love letter to Black sisterhood, chronicling the lives of four stylish and ambitious best friends as they navigate careers, relationships, and personal growth in New York City’s iconic Harlem neighborhood.
The final season of Harlem promises to raise the stakes, as the core four—Camille (Meagan Good), Quinn (Grace Byers), Tye (Jerrie Johnson), and Angie (Shoniqua Shandai)—face pivotal changes in their lives. From motherhood and career challenges to complicated relationships, this season explores the radical act of choosing oneself and the strength found in sisterhood.
For fans, this final chapter is bittersweet. As Jerrie Johnson shared during the panel, her role as Tye has been transformative: “This series has given me the chance to embody a character that is bold, unapologetic, and deeply human. It’s been a dream to bring Tye’s story to life, and I’m so proud of the work we’ve done as a cast.”
Bevy Smith, who plays Aunt Tammy on the show, added her own reflections on how Harlem helped her fulfill a long-held dream of acting. “After years of being in front of the camera as a host, stepping into this role has been such a gift. Harlem celebrates us as multidimensional women, and that’s something you don’t always see on screen.”
A Night of Stars and Surprises
The evening wasn’t just about the panel—it was a full-on celebration. After the screening and Q&A, guests danced the night away to an incredible set by DJ Ankia, who kept the energy high well into the night. The room was buzzing with excitement as attendees mingled, celebrated, and reflected on the impact of Harlem.
Notable guests included fellow Harlem cast member Jonathan Burke, Rolonda Watts (Survival of the Thickest, Partners in Rhyme), and Nick Arrington (Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard). Also in attendance was animation artist Thaddeus Coates, affectionately known as Hippy Potter, who added his creative spark to the mix.
Special shoutout to Cassandra Freeman, co-founder of Creatricity and star of Peacock’s Bel-Air. She joined PopViewers founder Chris Witherspoon in moderating the evening’s conversation, bringing warmth and humor to the stage. Cassandra’s energy and passion for storytelling made her the perfect partner for this collaborative event.
