Fans of KPop Demon Hunters are getting a golden encore this Halloween. Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have announced that the KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along event — a full-length, on-screen lyrics version of the animated hit — is returning to theaters for a limited run from Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2.
The Halloween-weekend engagement follows the film’s explosive success on Netflix, where it became the most-watched animated original film in the streamer’s history and, according to Netflix data, its most popular movie of all time across all genres.
A Global Theatrical Encore
The sing-along event will screen in AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theaters across the United States, with additional showings in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand.
For U.S. and Canadian fans, tickets go on sale Oct. 17 at 6 a.m. PT, while international fans are advised to check local listings.
In a statement, Netflix said the sing-along version “offers audiences a chance to fully immerse themselves in the energy, music, and message of empowerment that have made KPop Demon Hunters a global phenomenon.”
Soundtrack Goes Platinum, Breaks Billboard Records
The film’s momentum has been driven in large part by its chart-topping soundtrack. During a recent appearance by the film’s fictional pop group HUNTR/X on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon revealed that the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack had officially gone platinum.
According to Billboard, the soundtrack made history as the first ever to place four songs simultaneously in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 — “Golden,” “Soda Pop,” “Takedown,” and “Free.” The breakout single “Golden,” performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for six consecutive weeks — the longest run for a soundtrack single in nearly a decade.
As of this month, the soundtrack has amassed more than 7 billion global streams across music platforms and became the first animated film soundtrack to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since Encanto.
From Streaming Hit to Cultural Moment
Since premiering on Netflix on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has dominated the global charts. Netflix reports that the film logged over 236 million views within its first 60 days, topping Red Notice and The Gray Man to become its most-watched movie of all time.
The film also sparked a wave of fan-led trends on TikTok, with users recreating choreography from “Golden” and “Takedown,” and cosplaying as members of the all-girl demon-hunting K-pop group HUNTR/X.
The upcoming sing-along release aims to harness that energy, giving fans a shared space to celebrate the music and visuals that have defined one of the year’s biggest pop culture moments.
Behind the Hit
KPop Demon Hunters was produced in partnership between Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Mitchells vs. the Machines. The film was directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, from a script co-written by Kang, Appelhans, Danya Jimenez, and Hannah McMechan.
The voice cast features an all-star lineup, including Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Byung Hun Lee.
Musically, the project blends top K-pop and Western pop talent, with TEDDY, 24, IDO, DOMINSUK, Jenna Andrews, Stephen Kirk, Lindgren, and Ian Eisendrath among the producers and songwriters. The original score was composed by Marcelo Zarvos.
Fan Participation Encouraged
Netflix and Spirit Halloween are encouraging fans to come dressed as their favorite HUNTR/X member or demon-hunting character. Officially licensed HUNTR/X costumes will be available in stores, along with exclusive merchandise from the Netflix Shop.
