Apple TV+ is about to change the romantic comedy landscape with “Prodigies”, a unique series starring Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe.
“Prodigies” Premise
The show takes a deep dive into the realities of long-term relationships, following former child prodigies Didi and Ren as they navigate adulthood, love, and the complex emotions that come with growing up. In their early 30s, the two are faced with the tension between their extraordinary childhoods and their now seemingly ordinary lives.
“Prodigies”: Two Rising Stars Team Up
Edebiri, who has earned widespread acclaim for her roles in “The Bear” and “Bottoms”, not only stars as Didi but also serves as an executive producer, alongside Sharpe. “The Bear” is currently filming the fourth season and is expected to release this summer. Ayo also has other projects in development, including writing the script for the “Barney” movie. She is receiving pre-release Oscar buzz for her role in the upcoming film “After The Hunt”, where she stars alongside Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield.
Will Sharpe, known for his remarkable work on “The White Lotus”, both creates, writes, and directs the series, bringing his signature blend of humor and depth to the project. Sharpe will next be seen in an upcoming Netflix romantic comedy series entitled “Too Much” alongside Meg Stalter of “Hacks”. The series is created by Lena Dunham, which is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer.
The show, produced by the team behind “Black Doves”, challenges the typical romantic comedy formula by focusing on what happens after the initial spark fades. Prodigies highlights the ongoing work, growth, and challenges that come with maintaining love, offering a relatable and refreshing perspective on relationships.
With its heart, humor, and sharp storytelling, “Prodigies” is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the rom-com genre. With a talented cast and creative team, it’s a must-watch for anyone seeking a deeper, more authentic take on love and commitment. “Prodigies” is set to stream on Apple TV+.
