When “Shrinking” first premiered on Apple TV+ in early 2023, we knew it was something special. Jason Segel is best known for his role as Marshall on the beloved sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence previously collaborated on another Apple TV+ hit, “Ted Lasso.” Bill Lawrence is also currently airing “Bad Monkey,” featuring Vince Vaughn in the starring role.
“Shrinking” follows Jimmy (Jason Segel) as he navigates life after the loss of his wife. He is a therapist who often breaks the rules of therapy by being more open and honest with his patients. One of Jimmy’s patients, Grace (played by “Saturday Night Live” cast member Heidi Gardner), pushes her abusive husband, Donny, off a cliff after recalling Jimmy’s advice about not letting him get to her. This moment of rage follows an insult, and we can’t wait to see where our favorite characters end up!
The trailer for Season 2, released today, shows Jimmy continuing to move on after his wife’s death. His daughter, Alice, is hopeful that he will maintain his upward momentum, but bumps along the way are inevitable. The show tackles important themes of grief and heartbreak, which make it so special.
An exciting addition for the show is Brett Goldstein, known for his Emmy Award-winning performance in “Ted Lasso.” As a co-creator and writer, Brett now joins the cast in an undisclosed role.
