NBC has officially greenlit a full series order for “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins”, a new comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, Variety has confirmed.
“The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” Premise
The series, first announced as a pilot back in March, follows Morgan as Reggie Dinkins, “a disgraced former football player who is on a mission to rehabilitate his image,” according to the show’s official logline. Radcliffe will play Arthur Tobin, a decorated filmmaker who moves into Reggie’s home to create an immersive documentary chronicling the athlete’s attempted comeback. The series also features Erika Alexander (“Living Single”) in a supporting role.
The pickup arrives as NBC prepares its 2025 fall slate, with a premiere window for Reggie Dinkins still to be announced.
This project marks a major reunion for fans of “30 Rock”, bringing together some of the minds behind the beloved comedy. Morgan, who earned an Emmy nomination in 2009 for his role as Tracy Jordan, returns to network television alongside “30 Rock” co-creators Robert Carlock and Tina Fey. Carlock and Sam Means (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) are co-writing and executive producing the series. Fey will executive produce through her Little Stranger banner, with Eric Gurian, David Miner (3 Arts), and SNL alum Rhys Thomas, who will direct the pilot, also on board. Universal Television, where Fey has an overall deal, is producing the show.
Morgan, a longtime “Saturday Night Live” cast member, is known for his sharp comedic timing and larger-than-life presence. Following 30 Rock, he starred in The Last O.G., a critically praised comedy that showcased both his humor and dramatic chops. This latest role puts him back in a lead role on a major network, this time as a former sports star navigating public redemption.
Radcliffe, best known for his work as Harry Potter, has made a name for himself in quirky and offbeat comedies in recent years. He previously teamed up with Fey, Carlock, and Means on Netflix’s interactive special “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend”.
With a sharp premise, a powerhouse creative team, and a standout cast, “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” is shaping up to be a major player in NBC’s upcoming comedy lineup.
