Netflix has another buzzy hit on its hands with “The Four Seasons“, an eight-episode comedy-drama that quickly claimed the #1 spot on the platform. The show’s blend of familiar faces, emotional storytelling, and breezy pacing has left viewers already asking: Will there be a Season 2? Spoilers are ahead!
While an official renewal hasn’t been confirmed, the creators are already sharing their thoughts on what’s next.
Creator’s Speak on “The Four Seasons” Future
In an interview with TV Insider, co-creators Tracey Wigfield and Tina Fey offered an optimistic outlook on the future of the show:
Tracey Wigfield: “If we did another season, we would want the same group of friends, and we’d want Ginny to really be tied in there because she and Anne are going to have children who are siblings. And it just gives us a lot to play with in their relationship.”
Tina Fey: “I feel like we sort of don’t dare to dream yet, but we did. Who knows. If we were lucky enough to do more of these, we’d certainly all like to hang out again.”
The finale also laid the groundwork for a potential continuation. Co-creator Lang Fisher, speaking with TVLine, hinted at the next chapter for the group:
“We would love to write a Season 2, if they want one,” Fisher says. She acknowledges that while the writers “have no ideas for what it would be yet,” co-creator Wigfield was a bit more eager, adding, “Well, we have some ideas!”
Fisher went on to emphasize that a second season would keep the same core cast and dynamic, rather than shifting to an anthology format. She joked about the possibilities, saying, “It could be in space!” But for now, it would certainly remain grounded in the familiar “four trips” and “four seasons” setup that made the show so beloved.
Tina Fey on “The Four Seasons” Season 2
Meanwhile, Tina Fey also opened up about the process of moving forward with a second season in an interview with Variety, where she gave a hint at what’s to come:
Tina Fey: “We’re going to start talking next week, the three of us. We’ll see.“
The show’s first season, while evoking comparisons to “The White Lotus”, stands out for its lighter tone and deeper comedic focus. The tragic death of Steve Carell’s character, Nick, added a somber touch to the finale, underscoring the series’ exploration of life’s inevitable changes. “Sometimes a friend dies,” Fey said, summing up the emotional stakes of this stage in life.
“The Four Seasons” took off quickly, debuting at #1 on Netflix and holding that spot despite strong competition, including the final season of You. Its accessible format and star-studded cast made it a must-watch, and it’s likely the show’s appeal will continue to grow
Netflix prizes completion rates, and “The Four Seasons” is a perfect candidate for quick, enjoyable binges. With episodes clocking in at under 30 minutes, viewers can easily knock out a season in one sitting, which certainly helps its chances for renewal.
While Netflix has yet to make an official announcement, all the signs are positive. From strong viewership to the creative team’s excitement about continuing the journey, it seems like just a matter of time before “The Four Seasons” is greenlit for Season 2. And with Tina Fey, Tracey Wigfield, and Lang Fisher already making plans, the group of friends may soon be back for more trips, laughs, and perhaps even some new surprises.
Stay tuned for more updates, but for now, fans can keep their fingers crossed for the next season to be confirmed soon.
