Apple TV+ is gearing up to launch its buzziest new limited series, “The Savant‘”, on Friday, September 26, 2025. The first two episodes will debut together, with the remaining installments rolling out weekly through November 7. The eight-part drama stars Jessica Chastain, who also steps behind the camera as an executive producer. The series comes from creator, writer, and showrunner Melissa James Gibson.

Produced by Fifth Season and Anonymous Content, The Savant follows Chastain as an undercover investigator known only by her alias. Her mission: to infiltrate online hate groups and prevent violent extremists from carrying out attacks. It’s a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where one misstep could cost lives.
The show takes its cues from Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan feature, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” The article profiled a woman referred to as “K”—a former Marine and police officer who assists the FBI by tracking dangerous digital chatter. Nicknamed “The Savant” for her almost preternatural ability to spot threats before they materialize, K played a key role in preventing potential tragedies, including the 2009 plot to bomb the Paul Findley Federal Building in Illinois.
To protect herself and her family, K keeps a low profile—no social media presence, an assumed name, and a career cloaked in secrecy. Whether she directly consulted on the series is unknown, given the sensitive nature of her work.
At its core, “The Savant” is more than a thriller—it’s a sobering look at extremism in the digital era.
