Exciting news for Addams Family fans! Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators behind Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday“, are working on a brand-new animated Addams Family movie. Unlike previous versions, this film will tell a fresh, standalone story, separate from Wednesday and past films.
“Wednesday” Creators on Addams Family Animated Film
Gough told the Crew Call podcast, “We’re working on it with Amazon MGM and with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and with Gail Berman and John Glickman. We’re rebooting the animated film franchise. So it won’t have anything to do with the two films before it, nor is it connected with this show. It will be a brand new Addams feature. There’s not really much we can say about it, because it’s in the very early stages.”
Produced with Amazon MGM Studios and guided by Kevin Miserocchi, this project aims to bring a new twist to the classic spooky family. Gough and Millar are known for their clever storytelling, and they promise a mix of humor and darker themes that will appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers. Unlike many recent animated films that go straight to streaming, this one is planned for a theatrical release, so audiences can enjoy the Addams’ quirky world on the big screen.
The success of “Wednesday”, starring Jenna Ortega, has reignited interest in the Addams Family, and this animated film is just the beginning. Spin-offs, including one focused on Uncle Fester, are also in the works, meaning the Addams universe is growing like never before. With fresh stories and new characters, the Addams Family is ready to charm a whole new generation — and this upcoming film looks like the perfect way to do it.
