The halls of Nevermore Academy are stirring once again as “Wednesday” returns for a second season, ready to dive deeper into the eerie elegance that first enchanted audiences. With a bold new chapter on the horizon, the series isn’t just picking up where it left off—it’s expanding the universe, giving fan-favorite characters more time to shine and unleashing new twists that promise to up the stakes.

“Wednesday” Season 2: A Chilling Return to Nevermore

Season 2 of “Wednesday” debuts in two parts—Part 1 dropping August 6 and Part 2 following on September 3. A new teaser plunges us back into the gothic corridors of Nevermore Academy, reuniting fans with Jenna Ortega’s razor-sharp Wednesday Addams. This time around, the stakes are higher, the mysteries darker, and the family drama more intense.

“The most exciting thing is being able to revisit her,” Ortega says of reprising the role to TUDUM. “Wednesday Addams is one of the coolest characters of all time… it’s so much fun. She runs circles around everyone that she has a conversation with.” Ortega isn’t just returning as the lead—she’s stepping into a producer role, signaling an even deeper connection to the character and story.

The Addams Family Takes Center Stage In Season 2

Nevermore won’t be the same with more members of the Addams clan on campus. For the first time, Wednesday’s younger brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) enrolls, bringing his own brand of awkward adolescence—and budding supernatural powers—into the mix.

“Poor Pugsley,” director and executive producer Tim Burton jokes. “He’s kind of an outcast among outcasts… he’s just exploring his newfound teenage powers.” This season also features an expanded presence from Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán), with Morticia showing off some deadly fencing skills and Gomez stepping into his role as the loving but equally intense patriarch.

“Bringing the family to Nevermore felt like an obvious move… more conflict for that character,” says co-creator Miles Millar. “And the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is really the central relationship of the series.”

Following the shocking end of Season 1, Nevermore is under new management. Enter Principal Barry Dort, played by Steve Buscemi, whose presence adds both intrigue and a healthy dose of unpredictability to the faculty. “Steve brought a new energy to this season,” says Burton. “It was fun and it was creative.” Buscemi describes his character as “a bit of a mysterious figure,” adding, “he loves the school and he has real outcast pride.”

Also joining the cast is Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump, Morticia’s eccentric mother and Wednesday’s unexpected ally. “She’s perfect and hilarious,” says Millar. “That Wednesday-Hester relationship is unique… I think everyone is going to fall in love with Hester.” Lumley herself describes the world of Wednesday as “intoxicating,” adding, “I get to wear many, many huge wigs… so I love it.”

Despite her cool confidence, Wednesday finds herself blindsided this season. “Nothing is what it seems in Season 2,” warns Millar. “She thinks she’s going to be in control… and she doesn’t.” The second season promises to peel back more layers of Nevermore, revealing hidden corners, new characters, and long-buried secrets. Familiar faces return too—Emma Myers as perky werewolf roommate Enid, Joy Sunday as siren rival Bianca, and Hunter Doohan as Tyler, whose dark alter ego as a Hyde left a bloody trail in Season 1.

“Season 1 really focused on Wednesday, but… now we get to expand their storylines and expand the scope and breadth of the show,” says co-creator Alfred Gough.

Family, Fear, and Finding Your Place

At its heart, “Wednesday” continues to explore identity, belonging, and the bonds of family—all with a delightfully sinister twist. As Wednesday confronts new foes and growing pains, the tension between independence and connection becomes even more pronounced.

The Addams Family has always embraced their oddities, and this season continues to celebrate that message. With sibling dynamics taking center stage and multigenerational clashes surfacing, viewers can expect both emotional resonance and good old-fashioned Addams weirdness.

Mark your calendars, sharpen your swords, and keep your eyes peeled—because in the world of Wednesday Addams, things are never as simple as they seem. “Wednesday” Season 2 begins streaming on Netflix on August 6.
