What to Watch This Weekend

Impeachment: American Crime Story

Watch on FX

After covering the O.J. Simpson trial and the assassination of Gianni Versace, FX’s hit anthology series is back for a deep dive into the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. The series stars Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp and Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky and sees this much-told story through the eyes of the women involved. For some viewers, this may be their first real exposure to this scandal that rocked the 90s. For those who remember this story like it was yesterday, this docudrama should offer new insight and a chance to view this history from a perspective that you might not have considered in the past.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Watch on Amazon Prime and in Theaters

He’s a blockbuster and you don’t even know it! (Yet- that is!) This musical that became a smash hit in the UK is now strutting its way onto the big screen. It’s a story about a 16-year-old boy who doesn’t fit in and dreams of being a drag star. Think Billy Elliot but in sequins! He’s supported by his loving mother, a fierce best friend, and ultimately his classmates who all eventually come around to seeing that Jamie has something special to offer the world. This is the feel-good, be-yourself celebration that the world could use right now!

Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali

Watch on Netflix

This new documentary explores the important bond forged between the human rights activist and heavyweight boxing champion in a way that viewers have never seen before. (This is saying something considering the volume of books and stories written about these two men.) The film focuses on the three-year stretch in the 1960s that the men became close and uncovers the issues that led to them splitting apart. Along with archival footage of the two men, this documentary also features interviews with some of their family members.

AMERICAN RUST (Watch on Showtime)

Jeff Daniels stars as a police chief in a small southwest Pennsylvania town who grapples with how far he’s willing to go to protect the son of the woman he loves after he’s accused of murder. If you’re thinking that this sounds a lot like “Mare of Easttown” you’re not wrong!

KACEY MUSGRAVES: STAR-CROSSED (Watch on Paramount+)

Pulling a page from Beyoncé’s playbook, Kacey Musgraves is releasing her latest album this weekend accompanied by an entire companion film.
