THE GILDED AGE
Watch on HBO
Are you into period dramas? Did you love every frame of Downton Abbey? Perhaps you are simply into the idea of a cavalcade of Broadway’s brightest stars gracing your television screen in period garments. If any of this sounds appealing to you, “The Gilded Age” should be on your watchlist. The show is from the same creator of “Downton Abbey”, Julian Fellowes, and tells the story of a pair of a new-money/old-money neighborhood rivalry in 1880s New York City. The cast features Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, and Kelli O’Hara. No amount of new or old money can buy you that level of talent!
THE FALLOUT
Watch on HBO Max
This drama about the aftermath of a school shooting has been making the festival rounds for the past year and now arrives on HBO Max. The movie stars Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler and follows a group of friends who bond together while grappling with grief. It’s a raw and honest coming of age story that, while hard to watch at some points, is all too relevant for our current generation in which tragedies like this happen nearly every day across our country.

THE WOMAN IN THE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE GIRL IN THE WINDOW (Watch on Netflix)
What a title, huh? Don’t worry- it’s part of the joke. Kristen Bell stars in this dark comedy thriller that takes all of the familiar tropes that we’ve come to know from female-centric thrillers and turns them on their head. She plays a woman who watches the world through her window and possibly witnesses a murder. If that sounds familiar, that’s the point. The real mystery here is what hashtag abbreviation will Netflix use for the movie on Twitter.
