What to Watch This Weekend

BEL-AIR

Watch on Peacock

Now this is a story all about how a West Philadelphia born and raised teenager named Will’s life gets flipped-turned upside down after he’s sent to move in with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air. Sound familiar? It’s because it is! This re-imagination of the iconic sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” is set in modern-day and is a grittier and more dramatic take on the original story. The series actually came about after a fan-made trailer (created by Morgan Cooper) went viral on YouTube back in 2019. Bring on the drama- we can’t wait!

INVENTING ANNA

Watch on Netflix

Totally fake? Or totally fabulous? You’ll have to watch to find out. This limited series follows a journalist chasing down the story of Anna Delvey, a scammer who managed to convince New York high society that she was a German heiress. It’s the first show that queen Shonda Rhimes has created since Scandal- so you know it’s gonna be juicy! Equipped with a supernatural self-confidence, Anna (played by Julia Garner) swindles people and businesses out of hundreds of thousands of dollars as she tries to make it big in New York. If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.

MARRY ME

Watch in Theaters or on Peacock

Just in time for Valentine’s Day comes this rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, and Maluma. JLo plays a pop star, Kat Valdez, who makes the rash decision of marrying a complete stranger on the spot at her show instead of following through on marrying her cheating fiancé. The unlikely couple then has to learn how to cohabitate despite the different worlds from which they come from. Can they find true love together? Being that this is a classic rom-com, we have a good feeling about it. Regardless, we can’t wait to watch and find out anyway!
