1) “The Naked Gun” (Watch in Theaters)
The classic 1988 police spoof, Naked Gun is back, with a fresh twist. Hitting theaters today, the reboot stars Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., son of the iconic original character, Frank Drebin Sr.
Dreblin Jr. and his partner, played by Paul Walter Hauser, are police detectives tasked with stopping an evil tech mogul from developing a dangerous device. The cast also includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Danny Huston, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy and more.
Fans can expect dirty sex jokes, visual gags, and witty humor, in this classic film reboot. Critics are already loving it. Variety calls this reboot, “One of the year’s funniest movies.”

2) “Together” (Watch in Theaters)
Real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie star in Together, playing a codependent pair who move to the countryside. The simple move triggers a supernatural series of events, bringing them closer than ever before.
This creepy, body horror movie is weird, wild, and packed with just the right mix of laughs and chills. According to The Hollywood Report, “The movie was greeted at the Sundance Film Festival with a raucous premiere screening filled with applause, laughs and screams of discomfort.”
Together is now playing in theatres.
3) “My Oxford Year” (Watch on Netflix)
My Oxford Year is based on the novel by Julia Whelan. The movie stars Sofia Carson as Ana, a young American chasing her childhood dream of studying at Oxford. There, she meets Jamie, played by Corey Mylchreest, a charming and witty local. What starts as a simple friendship quickly turns into a life-changing romance.
Even if you’ve read the book, the movie is still worth watching. The endings are not the same. Entertainment Weekly says the film gives the love story a more definitive ending.
If you’re in the mood for a heartfelt romance, My Oxford Year is definitely one to check out. It just dropped today, Aug. 1, and is now streaming on Netflix.
4. “Chief of War” (Watch on Apple TV+)
Aquaman’s Jason Momoa is the co-creator and lead in Chief of War, Apple TV+’s latest historical drama. The first two episodes premiere today on Friday, Aug. 1.
Based on true events, the series follows Ka’iana, a Hawaiian war chief fighting to unite the islands before Western colonization. The show also incorporates the Hawaiian language. Time reports, “Much of the show, including its first two episodes, is spoken in ʻOlelo Hawai‘i, the lyrical native tongue of the islands.”

5) “Project Runway” (Watch on Hulu/ Disney+)
Season 21 of Project Runway kicked off with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, Jul. 31. Original host Heidi Klum returns, along with fashion expert Nina Garcia, and new judge Law Roach. Previous winner Christian Siriano will also join the team, serving as a mentor to the next wave of designers. Twelve contestants will compete weekly, racing against the clock to create runway-ready looks and win the $200,000 cash prize.
Expect to see a star-studded list of guest judges, including Michael Kors, Sofía Vergara, and Tyra Banks, in this new season. Watch the latest episodes now on Disney+ and Hulu.
6) “Leanne” (Watch on Netflix)
Leanne is a new comedy series starring stand-up comic Leanne Morgan. The show follows Leanne Murphy, played by Morgan. After her husband leaves her for a younger woman, Murphy sets out to create a new life for herself with the help of her quirky family.
According to Variety, the show loosely mirrors Morgan’s own life, so fans can expect plenty of jokes about midlife chaos, aging parents, and even one-liners from her standup routines. The cast also includes Kirsten Johnson, Celia Weston, Ryan Stiles, and Blake Clark.

7) “Twisted Metal” (Watch on Peacock)
Twisted Metal is back for a second season. Based on the classic PlayStation game, this Peacock original takes place in a post-apocalyptic world.
Anthony Mackie returns as John Doe, a delivery driver who finds himself thrown into a deadly demolition derby tournament. Stephanie Beatriz is also back as Quiet, a tough drifter, and romantic interest to Doe.
If you loved the first season, you’re in for another enjoyable ride. Season 2 brings the same mix of humor and action, making it perfect for a binge.

8) “Eyes of Wakanda” (Disney+)
Ryan Coogler, executive producer of Black Panther, brings a brand-new animated series to Disney+, Eyes of Wakanda, which dropped today, Aug. 1.
The series follows Hatut Zaraze, the Wakandan warriors, on intense missions around the world to recover stolen vibranium artifacts.
You’ll also hear familiar voices from Winnie Harlow, Lynn Whitfield, Cress Williams, and Adam Gold. All four episodes are now streaming on Disney+.
