From horror filled new releases to popular returning favorites, this weekend’s lineup has something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood to head to the theater for a cinematic experience or curl up on the couch with a binge-worthy series, here’s what deserves a spot on your watchlist.
Him
Marlon Wayans is switching things up in Him, a sports horror film that’s much darker than his usual comedy lane. Produced by Jordan Peele, the movie follows Tyriq Withers as Cameron Cade, a rising quarterback whose career is thrown off course after an injury. Just when Cade is about to give up, his childhood hero Isaiah White, played by Wayans, offers to train him. At first it seems like a dream come true, but the harder Cade pushes, the more White takes a sinister turn pulling him into a nightmare he never saw coming.
The film explores how far an athlete will go to become the GOAT. The Hollywood Reporter says audiences will leave the theater “either hooting in delight or shaking their heads in derision.”
The cast also features Julia Fox, Tierra Whack, Guapdad 4000, and Naomi Grossman. If you’re down for a wild ride that mixes sports drama with psychological horror, Him hits theaters starting today, Friday, Sept. 19.
A Bold Big Journey
Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell team up in A Bold Big Journey, a romantic fantasy with a twist of fate. Robbie plays Sarah and Farrell plays David, two singles who find themselves revisiting big moments from their pasts, piecing together how they ended up where they are today.
Their journey through memory lane isn’t just nostalgic, it forces them to face old traumas, lost loves, and maybe even opens the door to something new between them.
The film also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Kevin Kline, and Colman Domingo, giving the story even more heart and humor. Directed by Kogonada and written by Seth Reiss, A Bold Big Journey mixes romance with clever and thoughtful storytelling, making it feel both dreamy and grounded.
A Bold Big Journey lands in theaters today on Friday, Sept. 19.
The Morning Show Season 4
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are back for Season 4 of The Morning Show, the hit four-time Emmy winning Apple TV+ drama. Loosely inspired by Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning, the series digs into the messy behind-the-scenes drama at the fictional UBA network.
This new season brings ten episodes, with the story picking up about two years after Witherspoon’s character, Bradley Jackson, turned herself in to the FBI for covering up her brother’s role in the Jan. 6 White House raid.
Aniston teased what’s coming, telling TODAY, “It’s jam-packed full of exploring AI, deep fakes, who can you trust, who’s telling the truth, betrayal, heartbreak — severe heartbreak — and friendship.”
Season 4 officially kicked off on Sept. 17, and all episodes are now streaming on Apple TV+.
Gen V
The Boys spinoff Gen V is back for Season 2, and the first three episodes are already streaming on Prime Video. This season picks up a few months after Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Chance Perdomo’s characters were wrongly blamed for the Godolkin University massacre.
In a heartbreaking turn, the show also honors Chance Perdomo, who tragically passed away in March 2024, according to Forbes. His character, Andre, is written out in the new season, said to have died while trying to escape Elmira. The story now follows the group as they cope with grief and loss, while also uncovering a secret program tied to the very beginnings of Godolkin University, one that could change everything they thought they knew.
Season 2 of Gen V premiered Wednesday, Sept. 17, and you can catch it now on Prime Video.
Tulsa King Season 3
Sylvester Stallone is back in action as Dwight in Season 3 of Tulsa King. This time, he’s expanding his empire but also facing some of his toughest enemies yet as they threaten to bring down everything he’s built.
Samuel L. Jackson also joins the cast as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a man sent by the New York bosses to take Dwight down. Paramount+ even teased that Jackson’s character will spin off into his own series, NOLA King.
Returning this season are Jay Will, Garrett Hedlund, Martin Starr, Neal McDonough, Annabella Sciorra, Dana Delany, and more familiar faces. Plus, there are some new additions according to Deadline, Robert Patrick and Beau Knapp will play a powerful father-son duo, while Kevin Pollak steps in as an FBI agent with, as Variety calls it “an axe to grind.”
Season 3 of Tulsa King drops Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, exclusively on Paramount+.
Black Rabbit
Netflix’s new limited series Black Rabbit dives deep into the high-stakes world of New York nightlife. Jude Law stars as Jake Friedken, the owner of a rising hot spot that’s on its way to becoming the city’s most exclusive hangout. When his brother Vince, played by Jason Bateman, suddenly re-enters the picture, drama starts to unfold.
What starts as a reunion quickly unravels into a messy mix of old wounds, family tension, and dangerous new threats that could destroy everything they’ve worked for. With Law and Bateman leading the series, plus a strong supporting cast including Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, and Dagmara Dominczyk, this one promises plenty of intrigue and chaos.
Black Rabbit is streaming now on Netflix.
Dancing With The Stars
Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars kicked off on Sept. 16, pulling in 5.5 million viewers, according to Variety. The ballroom is officially back in action. Celebrities are once again teamed up with pro dancers to train, dance, and compete for that mirrorball trophy. Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are back as hosts, while Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli returned to the judges’ table. PEOPLE reports Carrie Ann Inaba missed the premiere due to being sick, but she’ll be back judging this season too.
This year’s cast brings a fun mix, including Hilaria Baldwin, Danielle Fishel, Alix Earle, Andy Richter, Elaine Hendrix, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, and plenty more familiar faces ready to hit the dance floor.
